For 8 decades the The Orange Benevolent Society of Saskatchewan has been synonymous with the "Orange Home" for children. Those doors closed permanently in June 2006 however,  with their closing new doors were opened.  The OBS maintains it's charitable status and continues to assist children and young adults of our province through new avenues.

The OBS would like to help ease the burden of medical expenses incurred by families and individuals undergoing treatments or requiring special medical devices or assistance. Travel expenses, accommodation, special needs may all qualify for support. The OBS  will provide a grant, a monetary sum that need not be repaid.   Our Board of Directors will review applications and they retain final decisions on approval and amount of grant awarded to each applicant.

The scholarship program is available to Saskatchewan students even if they choose to attend a program out of province. Academic achievement, financial need and personal qualities will play a role in determining qualification. What makes the OBS scholarship program special is that it encourages young adults and mature students to apply. This group has often found itself without opportunities for scholarships when education for improvement of his/her life situation could be most beneficial and timely.

The OBS is proud to be able to offer the citizens of Saskatchewan grants for furthering education and for covering medical expenses, please spread the word on their availability.

AWARDS

The OBS is very pleased at the early responses it has had with regard to scholarship applications.  Since 2007 we have awarded over $150,000 and will continue to support our Saskatchewan students.  For applications please see "Scholarships" at the top of this page.  Also our medical assistance program has awarded $170,000 to Saskatchewan children and their families.

HISTORY

Remember when the Orange Benevolent Society was synonymous with the "Orange Home" for children.

The Orange Home Farm in Indian Head.

The Society had many "friends" they could always count on for support.  Our annual calendar project for example,  many volunteers over the years assisting the OBS stuffing envelopes for the mass mailing.  If you were ever a volunteer - thank you, we could not have got the calendars out on time without you.

Do you remember taking a ride on the wild side with the Southern Independent Riders?

Thank you always to the SIR for all their support, past and future!

If you were ever a resident of the Orange Home, you can attest to the countless hours put into making astounding floats for the annual parade in Indian Head.    Many awards for first prize were awarded to the Orange Home.      Thanks to you, We rocked!

The biggest thank you goes to all of our supporters, without your generous donations it would not have been possible to complete the tasks of every day life we provided to our "kids".  The OBS was able to give the children experiences they may not have had the opportunity to participate in otherwise.
